A search to find ancient towers in Ras Al Khaimah
Al-Hamra Rachellee Watch Tower is located in the Al Hamra Village, Ras Al Khaimah. Drive towards Sheikh Muhammad Bin Salem Road and take the small dirt road exit at 25°42’05.7″N 55°48’26.2″E, continue for a short drive.
Route-1
Take the exit at 25°41’59.8″N 55°48’32.3″E you will find it on the right-hand side there is a small path with loose sands. We suggest only 4×4 cars take this route to avoid getting stuck in the sand. Alternatively, you can walk from this point to reach the tower, I guess it should take 10- 20 mins depending on your fitness level. There is another route to enter easily compare to this route-1.
Route-2
Enter to sand track at this coordinates 25°41’36.8″N 55°48’05.8″E follow the route towards the watchtower. This route-2 is easier compare to route-1, having said caution is needed, and watch for broken furniture woods, nails, glass, or bottles to avoid breaking your car tires.
How we reached the watchtower from Route-1
When we entered the sand track, our first impresession was easy to claim up to the watchtower. Once we reached a little closer we realized the sand was too soft. On the first attempt, we reversed our car back to a hard surface and reduce the tire pressure to PSI – 25, and gained the momentum to claim up & we did it on the second attempt!
We covered our attempt in the below video as part of our day trip to Ras Al Khaimah.
Once you reach the top, little mountain or watchtower, the fossils, handmade items, some archeological items were kept for the visitors in an open area.
You can view the watchtower from outside and no way to enter or go upstairs. Considering the age of the tower, we don’t think it’s advisable to allow people inside the tower to consider safeness and to prevent the ancient watchtower.
